Louis is 1! What a great time to reflect and appreciate everything that was 2012! We are so proud of our little boy- he's walking and starting to talk and is such a sweet, happy little man. What more could we ask for?
More birthday party pictures to come!
And here's his favorite person singing him happy birthday!

Quote(s) of the Day(s)
Elowyn- What is Santa going to bring you?
Marlo- Traffic.
Elowyn- What's traffic?
Marlo- I don't know.
----------------------------
Marlo- Cashews are like almonds. You put them in your mouth and they taste good.
----------------------------
Marlo- Mom, Do you have some money for me?
Mom- No, why?
Marlo- I need money so I can get on an airplane.
----------------------------
One of Marlo's classmates gave her a cake ball decorated like a turkey for thanksgiving. After completely indulging in it's messy deliciousness Marlo said "Now that was Thanksgiving"
----------------------------
Mom- Marlo I am going to run upstairs and change the laundry. Will you stay here and play and yell up to me if Louis needs anything?
Marlo- Yeah.
A minute later...
Marlo- Mommy! Louis needs anything!
----------------------------
Driving home from school one day...
"Mommy, Is Santa going to invite us to Christmas?"
----------------------------
We were reading a story book about Jane Goodall. There is a part where as a child she sneaks into her aunts barn and witnesses "the miracle" of where eggs come from.
Marlo- That's not a miracle, that's a chicken.
----------------------------
I had been preparing Marlo for the fact that she'd have a babysitter on Friday evening so that Daddy and I could go on a date. Driving home from the park to meet the baby sitter at our house...
"Mommy, are we going home and I'm going to play with Cami and you and Daddy are going to go on a diet."
----------------------------
Marlo- It's Christmas time!
Mommy- Almost.
Marlo- Yeah, Christmas is for Wednesdays.
Mommy- What happens on Christmas?
Marlo- That when you give me a doggy.
Mommy- Well, no. You get presents but I don't think you get a doggy.
Marlo- Yeah presents. I get presents now?
Mommy- We still have to wait a little while.
Marlo- Ok. Like after I eat my dinner?
---------------------------
Marlo- Traffic.
Elowyn- What's traffic?
Marlo- I don't know.

Happy Hikers
The weather has been gorgeous and we've been trying to get outside as much as possible. Yesterday we did a little hike at Mayfield Park.

Quote(s) of the day(s)
Mom- Marlo you are loveable.
Grumpy Marlo- No Mommy! No! YOU are loveable!
Mom- You are loveable.
Grumpy Marlo- NO! YOU ARE LOVEABLE!
... and so on...
Louis crawled into the bathroom and Marlo shut the door and trapped him.
Mom- Marlo we need to leave the door open. We need to be in the same room as Louis
Marlo- No Mommy. We don't.
Mom- Yes. We do Marlo, who's going to watch baby Louis?
Marlo- Mom, that's gonna be your problem.
Marlo- Mom, do you work at the Museum.
Mom- Yes.
Marlo- Me too.
Mom- You do?
Marlo- No I don't.
Mom- You go to school. Going to school is your job, your work.
Marlo- No Mama. I can't go to work at school because I don't have a computer at school.
Marlo- I'm shaking my Baracka.
She means maraca.
On the drive home from visiting Greg, Rachel and the twins, Owen and Grey (who are 2 months old).
Marlo- I was at Greg and Rachel's house and I drink breast milk.
Daddy- No. No Marlo it was RICE milk.
Marlo- Yeah, I didn't like it
(When she tried it she told Greg "It's not tasty")
Marlo was sitting on the potty and giving us directions. In her best yoga/dance teacher voice (see video from previous post)... "Sit down. Close your eyes. Take a deeeeep breath... Oh, it smells like poop."
One day when we picked Marlo up from school we had the pleasure of seeing a rainbow. A few days later one of the teachers at her school spotted a woodpecker in one of the trees. I was there picking her up so we walked out with a couple teachers and a small group of kids to see the woodpecker. It was well camouflaged so it was hard to spot. On teacher used her camera to zoom in and take a picture so she could help the kids spot it. The whole time Marlo was looking up in the tree, pointing, oh-ing and ah-ing. When the teacher brought the camera around to show her she promptly rejected the photo and said in a matter of fact tone "Oh yeah, no. I'm looking for a rainbow."
Marlo's teacher is pregnant and they've been throwing around the joke that she swallowed a watermelon seed. She's even decided she's going to be a watermelon for Halloween. One day she gathered the kids to tell them that she'd found out it that the baby was going to be a boy and Marlo said "What? It's not going to be a watermelon?"
We went to play at the Botanical Gardens with Elowyn and her baby sister Aven (9 days old!). As we were leaving Marlo said "I play with Elowyn and baby Oval!"
I love it when she tries out a new word.
Marlo- Mommy, you worried?
Mom- No.
Marlo- I worried.
Mom- What are you worried about?
Marlo- I worried about pizza.
Mom- Why?
Marlo- Mom. I AM worried about pizza. It's MY pizza.
Grumpy Marlo- No Mommy! No! YOU are loveable!

Videos
I'm behind on updates! Here's some recent and not as recent videos...
Louis chatting and clapping.
Marlo teaching a "dance" class
In case you can't understand her "First you bend you legs, then you let go of your hands and then you swwiiiimmmmm..."
This one is pretty old. He's much more aggressive with his music now.
Again, a little old but too cute not to share.

Tub Time
There's too many kids in this tub
There's too many elbows to scrub
I just washed a behind that I'm sure wasn't mine
There's too many kids in this tub.
-Shel Silverstein
(and maybe too many toys... And time for a larger tub)
Plus, everyone needs an embarassing 'taking a bath with my brother/sister picture'
