Roller Skating

Marlo wants to have a roller skating birthday party so we decided we should probably try roller skating.  It was super fun. Marlo is totally into it (book the party!) and Louis had fun but lost interest quickly. Not sure if he lacked interest in skating, was distracted by the video games, or if 1 hour of soccer plus a bouncy house birthday party plus roller skating was just too much for one day.

More Fall Fun

We got to see a race at COTA (for Knox's 6th birthday party)

Pizza tailgating with Kenley at Homslice

Creek Show is a series of art installations on the new Waller Creek development. Sean and I went as grown ups and then decided Marlo and Louis couldn't miss it.

The kids enjoyed the art show and loved the hands on activities (this one is LittleBits, a circuit building activity, hosted by the Thinkery)

Christmas continued...

They opened their gifts to each other a little early. Actually the day they bought them. They were wrapped for less than 10 minutes when Marlo convinced me that her gift was to Louis, from her, and his gift was from him to her... so it was between her and Louis and didn't really have anything to do with me so they should decide if they opened them or not.
Ok.

Feliz Navidad!
We spent 4 days at a cabin near Utopia, TX over Christmas. With the exception of 3-4 cases of strep throat it was delightful. Tons of cousin time, playing, eating and adventure.

Cool dad's play with Calico Critters

We did a couple hikes. This one in Garner State Park was really fun. Very steep but worth it when we got to the top of the "mountain"
Another holiday memory for the record-
I had all the christmas gifts ready to load in the car to take to the cabin and they were sitting at the bottom of the stairs near the garage door. I left Louis unsupervised for 2 minutes while I ran up to get some socks when I heard the sound of tearing paper. I ran down the two flight of stairs to find that he had opened 1 gift and had the bow off of another. When we was throwing a fit because I wouldn't let him play with the super cool Playmobil pirate ship I got him he said "The problem is not that I opened the present, the problem is that YOU interrupted me!"

Fall Fun

Hiking on the Greenbelt
Marlo found a snake skin.
Louis pretended that his play compass was a cell phone and took care of some pretend business.

Blanton Art Museum

Carrot peeling.
Louis stayed home one day- I can't actually remember why, he wasn't sick. I think I had the day off and he just wanted to hang out.  He took the opportunity to play with all of Marlo's toys while she was at school (or winter break camp or something).

Smoothy date.

Marlo can ride her pedal bike without training wheels. She needs a bigger bike (birthday gift shopping done!)
Louis also did great with out training wheels but he can't reach the ground so starting and stopping tend to be a challenge.

Hot cocoa and latte date.
At this point the kids pretty much hate going to our new house. If we pull up to it Louis just screams "NO" at the top of his lungs. We feel it too. We are ready... but we are close! It will be so worth it. I'm sure Louis feels like we've been building for his entire life.

They had fun running in the yard.

We brought toys to entertain them. Here they are playing on the living room floor.
