O' Christmas Tree

Christina (Elowyn's Mama) made us a super adorable advent calendar.  

It's full of stickers and ornaments and Marlo LOVES it. 

 

 

Here she is (with a stuffed puppy in her shirt) putting new stickers and coloring on the paper Christmas Tree we made. Next year we might actually get a real tree (or at least a real fake tree), but she seems very enamored with this one so I'm going to leave it at that for now.  We might have to add some light...

Cooking

I finally finished Marlo's cardboard kitchen. I've had everything together for at least a month with the exception of the stove top and the faucet. I've been searching for the perfect faucet and found it in the holiday candy aisle... a candy cane top!

Here are a few detailed pictures.  

The fridge is clad with white duct tape, the faucet handles are drawer pulls, the burners are styrofoam trays and the stove knobs are plastic bottle caps. I found her some random fake food and play dishes at the thrift store. I think she likes it, although so far she mostly uses it as a parking garage for her match box cars...

A while back Marlo started talking about the potty so we got her a potty seat. 
This was her first interaction with it....

So, for now it seems that it's all talk.

Marlo started her Halloween weekend with her school party. She dressed as a "Nice Kitty"... Not a "Kitty" but a "Nice Kitty"

Take It On

I love that Marlo is starting to put sentences together. This week she was working on the correct way to request putting on and taking off her clothes, bib, etc. She thinks the opposite of "put it on" is "put it off" and that the opposite of "take it off" is "take it on".

On the other hand, she has a fully developed understanding of popsicles. That they are cold, that you have to go outside to eat them, that when mommy gets the loud blender out she is making them, that you get them out of the freezer... I guess the only thing she can't wrap her brain around is that they are not a breakfast food.

I finally captured Marlo's ABCs on video. Occasionally she'll get every letter. Practice. Practice. Practice.

Marlo has been singing constantly over the last couple weeks.  It's really hard to get her to do it for the camera so I had to be a little bit sneaky. You can pretty much ignore the visuals on these videos and just listen to the audio.

Twinkle, Twinkle (and more)

(At 1 minute into the video  she starts saying "Stop. Walk away."  This is what they tell the kids at school to say when someone is bugging them or when they are frustrated with something. I guess she's just practicing. You can also hear a bit of the ABC's and a song about an alligator)

Marlo is going to be a big sister!

We had our sonogram on Thursday and here are some pictures of the little one!

Everything check out and the baby is healthy and growing!

Ode to the Mountains

The very first thing Marlo did when we walked in the door from vacation was run to her piano and start playing.

Trash Dance

Marlo attended her first live dance performance.

The show was a Forklift Dance production called "The Trash Project"
Artist Director Allison Orr choreographed movement for Solid Waste Services employees and their equipment. It was awesome.

Being new to the concept of watching a dance performance, Marlo blurred the lines between audience member and participant.

Marlo loved every bit of it. She loved the trucks, the lights, the music... at every break in the action she was begging for "more".





This kind of looks like she's really clumsy but how she dances sometimes.
